Publication Ethics

Social Science and Governance Review (SSGR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process — authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher — are expected to adhere to these ethical standards.

Responsibilities of Authors

  • Submit only original work that has not been published elsewhere and is not under review by another journal.
  • Properly cite all sources and obtain permission for any third-party material.
  • Ensure that data presented is accurate and not fabricated or falsified.
  • Disclose any conflict of interest, funding sources, and ethical approvals.
  • Agree to the CC BY 4.0 license upon acceptance.
  • Notify the editor promptly if a significant error is discovered after publication.

Responsibilities of Editors

  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal scope.
  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Disclose and recuse from review when a conflict of interest exists.
  • Ensure a fair and timely double-blind peer review process.
  • Investigate allegations of research or publication misconduct and take appropriate action, including correction, retraction, or removal of the published work.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Accept review assignments only for manuscripts within their area of expertise.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of the manuscript and its contents.
  • Evaluate objectively, with constructive and substantiated feedback.
  • Disclose any conflict of interest to the editor and decline the review if one exists.
  • Complete the review within the agreed timeframe.

Misconduct Handling

SSGR does not tolerate plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, or any other form of publication misconduct. Allegations of misconduct are investigated by the editorial team following COPE guidelines. Outcomes may include editorial correction (errata/corrigenda), retraction, or removal of the published article.
